Goodwill Celebrates Microenterprise Month as Job Generating Program

Who

Goodwill of Orange County, a leader in providing job training and employment services for more than 85 years, is hailing the impact entrepreneurs and micro businesses have on creating jobs throughout California. Goodwill’s local microenterprise program has identified and created the tools and training necessary to launch customizable micro-enterprise businesses and since its inception in 2007, the organization has assisted 13 individuals, who still receive government support, but hope to move toward earning living wages within the year.

What

The California legislature declared July as Micro Enterprise month. Goodwill of Orange County and other members of the California Association for Microenterprise Opportunity (CAMEO) recently visited the Capitol in Sacramento to tell the Governor and legislators that despite the historic economic downturn, jobs are being created right now by micro business entrepreneurs.

Where

Goodwill of Orange County’s corporate offices are located at 410 N. Fairview in Santa Ana, CA. Microenterprise program participants have launched businesses throughout Orange County that include mobile document destruction, digital production services, child care, musicians and entertainers.

When

On Friday, July 31, Goodwill of Orange County will mark Microenterprise Month when Assemblyman Jose Solorio (Anaheim) will present a copy of the official State proclamation of July as Microenterprise Development Month.

Why

Because millions of Californians who are unemployed or under-employed are choosing self employment to make ends meet instead of waiting for government and Wall Street to turn the economy around, micro enterprise assistance can help to create jobs.
