Goodwill of Orange County and CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County) have been partners for several years now.
Currently, CHOC employs two Goodwill program participants within its Environmental Services (EVS) department.
The management team at CHOC have made it a priority to ensure everyone is working well and safely during this pandemic.
In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, one of our Project SEARCH individuals, Liliana G., decided to embark on the journey to find a new job in the healthcare industry. CHOC had an opening, provided a virtual interview, and Liliana was hired!
As part of the support Goodwill offers its employer partners, a Goodwill Employment Training Specialist, Lorraine G., provided Liliana with the on-site support she needed during her two-week training for her new job. CHOC management also provided extra Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to make each Goodwill team member feel safe.
On a typical day, Liliana starts by preparing her cart, filling her buckets with cleaning solution for all surfaces, and wiping down all high touch surfaces to help prevent the spread of diseases.
Before entering into a patient room, she suits up with the proper PPE and follows all safety protocols to ensure she remains protected at all times. Inside the room, Lilian thoroughly cleans and sanitizes.
Thank you, CHOC for your partnership with Goodwill of Orange County and for the continual support our program participants have received during these trying times.
