Goodwill of Orange County is excited to be the nonprofit partner of choice at Nordstrom’s latest neighborhood service hub in Newport Beach! Called Nordstrom Local, the location serves as a convenient services hub for online order pickup and returns, express alterations and more.
Store services include:
- Online order pick-up
- Alterations and Tailoring Services
- Easy Returns and Exchanges
- Free Styling Help
- Gift Wrapping
In addition, this new Nordstrom location also offers a convenient nonprofit donation drop off component that supports the surrounding communities. And this is where Goodwill of Orange County comes in!
Guests can drop off their gently used and laundered clothing and shoes, and Nordstrom donates the items on the customers’ behalf.
When these jeans, blouses, t-shirts, sneakers and sweaters get to Goodwill, they take on a whole new life.
The items will hit the floor at one of Goodwill’s 24 local thrift stores or in on our online marketplace on shopgoodwill.com, where they will be sold to fund Goodwill’s mission to help people facing barriers find and keep jobs right here in Orange County.
More than 94 cents from every dollar spent goes directly back into Goodwill’s programs and services. Services like resume building, interview skills and self-advocacy support for an individual with a developmental disability. And career counseling, job placement services and financial literacy courses for a veteran transitioning back from military to civilian life.
Last year, Goodwill of Orange County served more than 27,000 individuals, providing a pathway to greater independence and the opportunity to find purpose, pride and dignity.
Here’s a look at the impact of gently used fashion donations:
- 10 pairs of shoes = 1 hour of programs and services to place people into new jobs and careers
- 20 shirts or blouses = 20 minutes of personalized job training and on-the-job coaching
- 5 dresses = 58 minutes of job search and placement support for veterans
- 12 pairs of jeans = 2 hours of financial planning support and coaching
- 6 sweaters = 51 minutes of resume preparation
Not a bad second act for your old clothing and shoes, right?
This meaningful partnership with Nordstrom demonstrates their commitment to sustainability and support of local communities. For Goodwill, the partnership opens up a new clothing donation avenue that will be instrumental in the organization’s expansion of mission services in the new year.
